SHILLONG: The broken pavement along a stretch of the National Highway 6 on the Umiam hydro-electricity dam on Monday raised concerns among a section of the citizens about the safety of the dam.
However, officials of Meghalaya Electricity Corporation Limited allayed fears saying only the pavement along the highway on the dam was damaged a couple of days back after two night buses met with an accident on the spot.
They asserted that there was no danger to the dam’s structure and the damaged portion of the pavement will be repaired soon.
