SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong of Nongpasoh in Mawprem rubbished the allegations that it is “anti-Christian” and allowed enrolment for the state health scheme Phase III on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Johnny Kharmawlong, headman of Nongpasoh, said the claims were wrong and were intended to tarnish the image of the Shnong.
“The Shnong is not anti-Christian. In fact, it is not us but the state government who conducted the enrolment (for MHIS-III),” he added.
Hardeep Ryntathiang, general secretary of Nongpasoh Dorbar Shnong, said, “Last time also there was enrolment on Sunday but no one said anything. So why now?”
Defending the choice of the day, the Dorbar heads said there are labourers who do not get time for enrolment on other days.
