SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar has said shopkeepers in the city cannot overcharge consumers on the pretext of Goods and Services Tax.
The statement came from the DC following reports that a few shopkeepers in Laban are charging the customers more than the maximum retail price (MRP).
When contacted, Dkhar said that customers should point to the notified rates if they are overcharged.
While stating that shopkeepers should consult the concerned departments for clarification and calculation of prices following the implementation of GST, Dkhar said he is yet to receive any complaint in this regard.
