SHILLONG: Police in Amlarem sub-division of West Jaintia Hills district have started clamping down on vehicles flouting parking regulation to prevent road blocks.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jason Mairom said, “Police would be strict in putting wheel clamps on illegally parked vehicles, especially on market days in villages like Jarain and Shkentalang.”
The measure is taken to avoid accidents. The police said last month an accident took place in the market area of Shkentalang in which a 65-year-old woman, Philin Lyngdoh, was killed.
