71 infants die of diarrhea in state in 2016-17

 SHILLONG : The state of Meghalaya has reported a total number of 71 infant deaths (below 1 year) and 29 number of child deaths (1 year to 5 years) as per the diarrhoea deaths report for the year 2016-17.

 

Again, number of cases of diarrhoea and dehydration reported for below 5 years of age is 75,170 for the year 2016-17.

 

Number of infant deaths, district-wise is —  East Khasi Hills – 20, West Khasi Hills- 12, East Garo Hills- 10, West Jaintia Hills -8, Ri-Bhoi-7, south West Khasi Hills-6, South Garo Hills- 4, West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills- 2, East Jaintia Hills and North Garo Hills -0.
