SHILLONG: An uprooted tree fell pulling down power line along with it on a Government public transport  bus near St Mary’s College in the city on Wednesday morning creating inconvenience to the commuters in the area.

East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, P S Dkhar, informed that the mishap occurred early Wednesday morning when a tree fell down on the road snapping  power lines in front of  the St Mary’s College near Don Bosco point.

He said that fortunately no one was injured in the incident as the Government-owned Shillong Public Transport Service (SPTS) bus (ML 01 7435) was passing through the area at that time.

The tree fell down following heavy rain in the city since Tuesday night. A team of Meghalaya Fire and Emergency Service and Forest department were engaged   immediately to clear the road to avoid traffic jam in the area.
