SHILLONG: Hynniewtrep A’chik National Movement (HANM), South West Khasi Hills unit has alleged that Mawbidong Presbyterian Upper Primary School Committee appointed two church members as teachers, who are not qualified to teach.
The Assistant Public Information Officer (APIO) cum secretary of School Managing Committee of the school was fined by the Appellate Authority cum District Mission Coordinator, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Mawkyrwat for providing wrong information to the RTI sought by HANM.
Addressing reporters on Friday, OM Shylla, general secretary of HANM said that the APIO, who is also a church elder, Plaspingroy Shangdiar, was fined an amount of Rs 5250.
As per the reply to RTI, it was revealed that the school committee had appointed Shalmanroi Shangdiar, son of a Church deacon, who is yet to complete class XII and another teacher, Passsing K. Syiemiong, who has not even completed class 10.
Shylla said that it is a matter of concern that the Church leaders have resorted to cheating by appointing fellow Church members as teachers.
