Himachal offers DSP post to woman cricketer Sushma

Shimla: India’s international woman cricketer Sushma Verma was on Tuesday offered the job of a DSP in Himachal Police by the state government for her sporting achievements.

Sushma Verma has brought laurels to the hill state and to its people by excelling in international cricket, an official statement quoting Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said here.

A wicketkeeper-batswoman, Sushma was a member of the Indian team that played the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup final against winners England.

Shimla-born Sushma, the first woman cricketer from the hill state to represent India in international cricket, is a success story of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association’s residential academy in Dharamsala, around 250 km from the state capital.

The right-hand batswoman made her debut in Indian cricket team in the 2014 England tour. (IANS)
