WILLIAMNAGAR: A 10-month-old baby girl born on September 21, 2016, to a mentally challenged woman is waiting to be claimed by her relatives.
The baby is being taken care by Children’s Home for Girls in Williamnagar.
The District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) here, in a press communiqué, said the baby was left behind by her mother Mina Ch Marak at Williamnagar Civil Hospital to a lady unknown to her.
The office of the District Child Protection Unit had made several attempts to find the relatives of the woman but failed. Only the foster mother could be found.
According to DCPO, several claims were made by unknown persons who, however, were not related to the baby.
The Child Welfare Committee of East Garo Hills then decided to set a 60-day deadline for her relatives to claim the baby girl with proper legal documents supporting their genuine relationship with the mother.
In this regard, the relatives or persons having any information have been requested to contact the office of the District Child Protection Unit, Williamnagar, on the following number — 03658220000.
