SHILLONG: National Cadet Corps (NCC) Director General, Lt Gen Vinod Vashisht has said that youngsters who have joined NCC are taking part in a silent revolution.
Addressing the NCC cadets here on Tuesday, Vashisht said those who are part of NCC curriculum can never fail in their life irrespective of whether they become a soldier, software engineer or a shopkeeper.
He said the objective of the NCC is to develop qualities of character, comradeship and discipline. “It is only the discipline which separates humans from animals,” he added.
Clarifying further on the perception that youths join NCC to become soldiers, he said that the armed forces is just an incidental aim of NCC. “The choice of choosing career depends on individual cadets,” he said.
Urging the cadets to develop leadership skills, he said people can import the best of weaponry, materials and equipment but leadership has to be homegrown.
The address of the NCC chief was also attended by senior officials, Associate NCC Officer  and cadets.
