Two-day  District Level Industrial Exhibition Begins at Nongpoh

SHILLONG: The two-day 24th district-level Industrial Exhibition organized by the office of the general manager, district commerce & industries centre, Ri Bhoi district, began on Thursday at the office compound of the District Commerce & Industries Centre, Nongpoh.

The Exhibition was inaugurated by the Director of Commerce and Industries Meghalaya, Shillong N.Suting in the presence of A.P.S War Nongbri, Deputy Director, H. Decruse, General Manager DIC, Nongpoh besides officials from various government departments, entrepreneurs, self-help groups and others, according to a government Press release.

The Exhibition saw the participation of government departments like AH &Veterinary, Agriculture, Handloom, registered NGOs, SHGs and entrepreneurs showcasing a variety of products such as handicrafts, musical instruments, processed food, agriculture machineries, handloom products etc.

Speaking on the occasion, the director said that this exhibition was part of the yearly action plan of the Central government and its purpose was to enable the participants to meet and interact with fellow entrepreneurs. This exhibition was also a platform for the local artisans, craftsmen and entrepreneurs to showcase their talent and practical skills, he added.

Furthermore, the director said that DIC should play a proactive role in promoting, uplifting and guiding the entrepreneurs, small and cottage industries so that they can market their products in a profitable way. He urged the officials to conduct special interactive programmes and collaborate with officials from other departments, entrepreneurs, SHGs and called upon the people particularly the educated unemployed youths to avail the opportunity of creating self-employment.
