Dacoit gang busted in East Garo Hills

TURA: East Garo Hills police have busted a gang of criminals who have been creating terror  among villagers located in the Chiading area of the Jengjal to Williamnagar national highway sector.

The gang which had been involved in a string of extortion and dacoity cases in the area was apprehended by police during a raid on Rongchekgre Chambugong village under newly-opened Chiading police station.

Following a tip off about the presence of a group of armed criminals in the village, police raided the place and nabbed four young men from a village.

Police recovered two pistols with three live rounds, a loaded single barrel shotgun, a gelatin stick with three detonators and mobile phones from their possession.

The arrested criminals were identified as John T Sangma (18) alias June and Simple M Sangma (22) of Rongchek Chambugong village, Jerean Jeangku A Sangma (20) alias Jeang of Daringre village near Tura, and Balko M Sangma (15).East Garo Hills police stated that the arrested criminals  were trying to form a new militant outfit.
