GUWAHATI: An well-equipped operation theatre (OT) has been added to the Composite Hospital at the Border Security Force (BSF) base at Patgaon in Guwahati. Rakesh Aggarwal, IPS, Inspector General of Frontier Headquarter, BSF, Guwahati, has inaugurated the OT.
The OT will give a boost to medical facilities available for the personnel of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) particularly those from the BSF who are serving in the Northeast.
Now various surgeries can be performed in the new OT by Dr Prabhakar Das, Surgeon, Dr Piyali Nath, Spl. Grade-II (Gynecologists) an Dr Nipan Mahanta, Anesthetist under the supervision of Dr B J Lalvani, DIG (Med/MS), Composite Hospital, Patgaon.
There has been high inflow of pateints to Guwahati from entire North east region. With the set-up of the OT in this hospital, patients from CAPFs will be benefited through saving of time as well money. All sorts of general and gynecological surgeries will be carried out and it will gradually start laparoscopic surgeries in near future.
This project is stepping stone to an upcoming greater project of health and medical services in the BSF base at Patgaon here.
The Composite Hospital BSF Patgaon was established on November 18, 2015 consequent upon its shifting from Hazaribagh in appreciation of medical needs of CAPFs personnel particularly BSF in North East India. After the final phases of shifting, this hospital started growing in all directions catering medical needs of troops of Frontier Headquarter of the BSF Guwahati, First NDRF battalion based here. The hospital at BSF base in Patgaon provides healthcare not only to the troops of BSF but all CAPFs personnel deployed in the North East like CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB & Assam Riffles.
