Road mishaps kill 1, injure several

SHILLONG: One more person died in a road accident in the city while several people were injured in a series of road accidents across East Khasi Hills District.
Around 11.15 pm on Monday, an auto driven by Baiohwan Massar (28) dashed against an unknown pick-up vehicle near NEHU Gate No. 5, Mawlai.An occupant of the auto-rickshaw, Regan Marbaniang (32), died on the spot. In another incident on the same day, a container truck dashed against a Maruti Alto at ICAR, Shillong bypass.
Five female occupants of the car sustained minor injuries and were shifted to CHC Bhoirymbong. Driver of the container truck fled after the incident.Earlier on Sunday evening, a motorcycle ridden by Bannangrijaijai Kharkongor (20) knocked down three pedestrians, Augustine Wankhar (20), Michaelson Kharkongor (18) and Rollingstone Kharumnuid (23) at Laitkor Mawarling.
Victims sustained injuries and were admitted at Nazareth Hospital.
