Panaji:  The Goa assembly on Thursday passed a motion congratulating Goa-based members of the Indian women’s cricket team Shikha Pandey and Tracy Fernandes for their stellar performance in the recently concluded Women’s World Cup final in London.

The motion was moved by BJP’s Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar, who congratulated Pandey – a pace bowler and Goa’s first woman cricketer to play in the Indian team — and team physio Fernandes for their feat.

Assembly Speaker Pramod Sawant said both players had brought laurels to the country and the nation for being part of the team, which narrowly lost to England in the final last month. (IANS)
