RESUBELPARA: It could have been the sequel script for Lars Von Trier’s Antichrist and would have been better and more gruesome.
Five armed men and women barged into a house at Dekachang in North Garo Hills in the wee hours of July 28 and tortured the two residents, besides stealing their money, a delayed report said.
Of the two who were brutally tortured, one is 27-year-old Tezeng K Marak and the torturer was none other than his former lover of more than seven years, 24-year-old Salchi K Sangma, police said.
Two of the attackers are police men from the 5th Battalion of the Meghalaya Police.
Resubelpara police said the five persons were arrested, three on July 28 and the other two on July 31. The two constables, Shanborlang Kharkujai and his wife Tesri K Sangma, have been suspended.
“The department will look deal with this as per law and the accused will be sent to court. Law will take its own course,” said the police.
The police said it was a case of a jilted lover attacking her former beau out of jealousy.
Tezeng and Salchi from Balsrigittim in Williamnagar were in love and lived together for seven years. They were not legally married.
However, the relationship turned bitter as suspicion crept in and the duo finally separated in April this year. The police said both were in other relationships.
Tezeng lived in Resubelpara with his new lover Telmista G Momin from Kharkutta. Around 1.30am on July 28, the miscreants barged into the house when Tezeng and Telmista were sleeping.
They attacked the duo with sharp weapons and the women attacked Tezeng while the men tortured Telmista after them stripping them off their clothes.
Telmista received grievous injuries and bruises on her face, arms, neck and private parts.
She is being treated at Solace Hospital in Resubelpara.
Tezeng was tied up and Salchi attacked him with sharp weapons and beat him up. Salchi also had a pistol and threatened to kill him.
He received critical injuries in his private parts and other parts of the body and is waiting for surgery at GNRC Hospital Guwahati.
The screams alerted neighbours who called the Resubelpara police.
The police arrested three from Tezeng’s house and initially took the victims to Tura Civil Hospital.
An FIR has been lodged in this case.
Two other were arrested by Songsak police.
The attackers also took over Rs 40,000.
The OC of Resubelpara police station, H Koch, released the accused after receiving the medical report given by Leo Geous D. Sangma M&H officer Resubelpara as minor injury.
The NGOs and the civil societies visited the victims’ family.
To add more twists to the tale of the jilted lovers, it was more than a case of love and disturbed emotions. It was also about earthly possessions.
A piece of land that Salchi was claiming to be hers actually belongs to Tezeng, confirmed the Kongkal Mahari clan to which the boy belongs.
The clan has condemned the medical reports of Dr Leo Sangma saying he was being partial because Salchi belongs to the same locality.
The Kongkals produced a document saying the land belongs to Tezeng. A supplementary FIR was lodged on July 31 by the clan after which the two more accused were arrested.
