SHILLONG: Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) released its vision document 2017 at the party office which was inaugurated by the party’s general secretary, Batkupar Wahlang on Monday at Jaiaw.

Recalling the days which led to the formation of KHNAM,working president Adelbert Nongrum said, “KHNAM is an offspring of KSU formed as the state is directionless.”

“The party was formed under Paul Lyngdoh as all political parties has failed to deliver their promises. (U) KHNAM (the arrow) has to reach the target which is the long pending aspiration of the people,” he added.

Speaking on the motto of KHNAM- Mission with a Vision, he said, “Not for own’s mission but for the state as a whole.”

Stressing that KHNAM is not only a political party but it is a movement, he said the vision document is very clear as the regional party aims to create a movement in the state as well as in district councils.

“After 45 years of statehood we are reduced to a minority due to the self-centeredness of the leaders. It is hightime we create a road map. There are no policies on youth, tourism, sports. They should have brought about policies,” he added.

Nongrum bemoaned that till date the state does not have a true legislator,

as politicians have forgotten the boundary issue with Assam and Bangladesh which has not been resolved.

THS Bonnie, KHNAM’s MP candidate said, “One day we will bring about change together in the state. We will get 36 (seats). Goal is for KHNAM to rule (the state) one day.”

He stated that he hasd toured several places in the state where he found that even Khasis did not possess EPIC  at places bordering with Assam like Sahsniang, Sahphai in West Jaintia Hills.
