TURA: A students’ body from Garo Hills on Monday urged Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to look into various issues concerning the Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) workers from the region.
In a memorandum submitted to Sangma, the A’chik Students’ Welfare Association (ASWA) sought permanent appointment of ANM workers who are serving on contract for 3-10 years as per seniority.
It urged the scrapping of the new recruitment rules for those who have been serving for a long period and to restore the old formula for the old batch of Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery workers.
“The age limit should be relaxed at the time of regularisation of the old batch of trainees,” the association said.
The association also sought that preference is given to passed out trainees under government quota at the time of appointment and that vacant posts of Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery workers already advertised in newspapers, which have gone missing should be re-created and filled immediately.
