SHILLONG: The BJP’s in-charge in Meghalaya and national spokesman, Nalin Kohli on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Meghalaya CM and Congress leader Dr Mukul Sangma for the Congress-led state government’s failure to repair bridges in Garo Hills using Central funds.

Kohli accompanied BJP’s national general secretary (organization) Ram Lal who has arrived in the city on a three-day visit to hold meetings of the party’s organisational setup in the state for the 2018 Assembly elections in Meghalaya, said that the Chief Minister should explain to the people as why the State Government has not used the Central funds to repair the wooden bridges in Garo Hills despite being the Chief Minister for so long.
“If they (Congress led government) could not use the funds for building bridges, what bridges would the CM build with the voters of Meghalaya so late now,” Kohli added.
When asked about the accusation of Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma that RSS is preparing the ground work for the party in the state for the elections, Kohli said that Mukul Sangma instead of finding fault with others should explain his failure to use the Central Government fund for the development of the state.
Kohli said that the party was confident about its poll preparations and the kind of candidates it would put for the elections next year.
“The process of identification of candidates is going on at different levels though Central Election Committee will take a final call on the matter,” he said.
According to Kohli, the party is also in close touch with BJP leaders like Ram Madhav and Himanta Biswa Sarma to prepare the plan for the 2018 Assembly elections in the state.
