SHILLONG: The Confederation of Ri-Bhoi People (CoRP) has alleged that Umroi MLA, Ngaitlang Dhar misused public money following an RTI filed by the organisation in the office of the Umsning block on various MLA schemes for 2013-14, 2015-16.
Addressing media persons on Tuesday, CoRP president (eastern zone) said, Garlandford Kharsyntiew said, “The MLA maintains that he helps people from his own pocket but he is using the MLA scheme.”
“It is shown that for the improvement of paddy field of Banrilang Pyngrope at Nongrah, Umroi an amount of Rs 3, 40, 500 was given. Whereas the paddy field actually belongs to the MLA,” he said.
Indicating further, he said, “He distributed CGI sheets with a thickness of .25 mm whereas the RTI revealed that there was a purchase of CGI sheets at Rs 600 per pieced for 370 beneficiaries with 27 pieces each and .45 mm thickness.”
On the other hand, Kharsyntiew questioned the existence of the ‘twelve development organization’ which was revealed in the RTI.
“We don’t know what are these organizations all about. We will seek a clarification from the MLA,” he said.CoRP will also placed the RTI findings before the public.
