SHILLONG: The seat arrangement for the 2018 Assembly elections between the United Democratic Party (UDP) and the Garo National Council (GNC) is likely to be finalised within this month.
UDP working president Bindo Lanong said both the parties will meet this week to discuss arrangement for the 24 seats in Garo Hills.
Lanong also stressed on the need to rejuvenate the party in Garo Hills since UDP, in the last two elections, has not done well in the region.
“Re-organisation at the grassroots level is necessary,” he said and added that the party would “definitely” put up candidates from all the five districts in Garo Hills.
UDP’s seat-sharing with ally in Khasi-Jaintia Hills, HSPDP, is settled. But some of the sitting MLAs are not happy with the outcome of the alliance.
