SHILLONG: A 32-year-old man was arrested in the city on Tuesday for possessing contraband.
Police arrested Antim Lama from Dongkamon in Nongmensong in the evening and seized 1.72 gm of heroin from his possession.
Mawshun cave inaugurated
SHILLONG: Congress MLA Prestone Tynsong inaugurated the Pubon cave better known as Mawshun cave at Mawshun, a few kms away from Pynursla on Tuesday.
The cave is undergoing beautification works and tourists are already making a beeline to the cave which is 200 m long.
Others present at the inaugural ceremony include Mark Diengdoh, an officer from the state Tourism department, R Monarch Shabong, Editor of U Rupang, Sachin Chaudhury of Explore Globe from Mumbai, Lamiki Khongdkhar, the Sordar of Raid Mawshun.
1 dead, several injured in separate accidents
SHILLONG: One person was killed and several were injured in separate road accidents in the State on Monday. Around 12.30pm on Monday, a truck from Assam capsized at 12th Mile in Byrnihat while workers were unloading planks. A labourer, Tensing G. Momin, died on the spot.
In another incident, a dumper truck collided with a Maruti Swift D’zire at Mawngap.
The driver, Nestar Sohshang (38), and six other passengers sustained injuries and were admitted at Civil Hospital.
