SHILLONG: The National People’s Party (NPP) has sent out an open invitation to all entities willing to have an alliance with the party for the 2018 Assembly polls.
NPP president Conrad Sangma said the party would welcome anybody who wanted to work sincerely to make an Arunachal Pradesh-like merger a reality in Meghalaya.
The NCP in Arunachal Pradesh merged with NPP on Monday.
Asked whether any MLA is willing to join the party, Sangma said discussions are on but “at the end it is their prerogative whether they want to be part of NPP”. “It is a natural process and it depends on the individual decision,” he added.
Responding to a query about the party’s preparations for the elections, he said the party was working hard and different units at the grassroots level have been mobilised.
