SHILLONG: Rangdajied United FC came back against the run of play to blank Royal Wahingdoh FC 3-0 in a match of the Shillong Premier League 2017 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Polo here on Wednesday.
Wahingdoh, however, were dominant in the first half and had the greater percentage of ball possession even as a young Rangdajied side showed sparks of brilliance.
Both sides failed to open their account in the first half.
After the lemon break, Rangdajied appeared a different team, particularly after they broke the shackles after striker Bisharlang Kharumnuid caught the Wahingdoh custodian unawares in the 47th minute with a brilliant goal from the goalmouth.
Minutes later, a jolted Wahingdoh tried hard and even came close to drawing parity but for an erratic strike that missed the strike by several inches.
The moment of the match came in the 64th minute when an acrobatic Bansharai Sun showcased a meticulous bicycle kick to make it 2-0.
Therefater, Rangdajied did not look back as they went for the kill by piling on pressure on the Wahingdoh defence, which by then, was in a shambles.
With the opposition apparently on the back foot, the job became for the Rangdajied strikers became that much easier to penetrate the Wahingdoh goalmouth. Persistent raids thereafter brought about their third goal, as Reson Malngiang made no mistake to beat the Wahingdoh custodian glovesman, for yet another time, in the 70th minute.
The remaining minutes of the match saw a few rough tackles but Rangdajied were clearly the better side in the second half and hence deserved what in the end was a comprehensive win.
The next match of the league will be played between Malki SC and Shillong United FC on Saturday.
