TURA: The Association for Democracy and Empowerment (ADE) in Tura has written to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council alleging that land pattas are being issued to some non-indigenous people in the Tura market area.
In a letter to GHADC chief executive member Boston Marak, ADE stated that land pattas were allotted to 15 individuals by the district council, which was in violation of the state land transfer policy and alleged that these individuals were using the land documents for acquiring bank loans, building business establishments and other commercial activities. ADE has demanded that the district council cancel the allotted pattas at the earliest.
