TURA: The North Garo Hills district administration has appointed a magistrate to conduct an inquiry into last month’s midnight assault of a couple by a group of people led by two police personnel.
State civil service magistrate Jude Rangku T Sangma has been directed to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident and submit the report within 30 days.
Five persons, including a police couple, barged into the house of Tezeng K Marak and attacked him and his girlfriend over a family dispute on the night of July 28 at Dekachang in Resubelpara.
The victim was reportedly married to the sister of the police woman who led the attack. All five involved in the attack were arrested.
