Convocation
Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya Yeshi Tsering will be the Chief Guest at the Convocation Programme of Computer and Language Units of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Quinton Road on Saturday at 2pm.It will distribute certificates to its trainees and meritorious students who perform well in their computer exams. Computers will also be gifted to the needy.

Office bearers
The Synjuk Ki Samla Seng Khasi Ri Raid Laban has elected new office bearers for the term August 2017-2019 .The new president is Tennyson Ranee, vice-presidents Donna Hynniewta and Steady Stone Nongrum, general secretary Laibor Rynjah among others. They also elected 12 Executive members.

Tribute
Bangiyo Sahitya Parishad will organise a cultural programme to pay tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on the occasion of ‘Baishe-Shravana’ (Death anniversary) on August 13 at the Parishad premises from 5 pm onwards.

Dry day declared
Deputy Commissioners of East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi districts have declared August 15 as dry day. All liquor shops, bonded warehouses, IMFL shops, bars, hotels, breweries, canteen, clubs and outstill shops will remain closed on the day.

Raj Bhavan to be open to public
Raj Bhavan will be open to the public on August 14 and 15 from 5pm to 7pm for Independence Day, the deputy secretary to the Governor of Meghalaya said in a statement.
