Cincinnati Masters: Sania advances, Ramkumar bows out

Ohio:  Ace Indian tennis star Sania Mirza advanced to the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Masters after winning the round of last 16 women’s doubles match here along with her Chinese teammate Peng Shuai.
The Indo-Chinese duo defeated the doubles pair of Germany’s Julia Gorges and Ukraine’s Olga Savchuk in straight sets of 7-5 6-4 in one and a half hour yesterday.
Sania and Shuai are now slated to face Romanian duo of Irina-Camelia Begu and Raluca Olaru later today for a last four berth.
On the other hand, in the second round of men’s singles event Ramkumar Ramanathan bowed out after loosing to America’s Jared Donaldson. Ramkumar lost 4-6 6-2 4-6 to the wild card Donaldson yesterday.(UNI)
