India concludes Europe tour on winning note, beats Austria 4-3

Amstelveen:  Indian men’s hockey team concluded their Europe Tour on a positive note after defeating Austria 4-3 in a stunning encounter here.
Ramandeep Singh and Chinglensana Singh Kangujam netted twice to conclude India’s tour with three wins and two losses.
India started strong but Austrian Oliver Binder’s goal in the 14th minute gave them the 1-0 lead. In the second quarter, Ramandeep Singh equalised for India from a penalty corner in the 25th minute.
The second half witnessed more attacking display from India and Ramandeep scored a superb field goal in the 32nd minute. India’s variation in gameplay, saw them score another goal in the 37th minute. Vice Captain Chinglensana was the one to put the ball in the back of the net.
As the match proceeded towards the last 15 minutes, Austria showed some mettle to comeback and Michael Korper converted a penalty corner successfully in the 53rd minute.
In the dying minutes, Austria stunned India as Patrick Schmidt scored from a penalty corner in the 55th minute.
However, with just 10 seconds left, Chinglensana brilliantly scored from a cross hit by Gurjant to seal the match for India. (UNI)
