MDC, youth body seek relief for flood-hit of SGH

TURA: Former Deputy Chief Executive Member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) and Silkigre MDC, Augustine R Marak has urged Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma to direct the district administration to provide immediate relief to the flood affected families of South Garo Hills district.

The appeal for relief and compensation to the flood victims was also made by the All A’chik Youth Federation (AAYF), a youth body from Baghmara in a separate letter addressed to the CM.

According to Marak, villages like Karukhol, Rewak, Balkal, Gokagre, Nengkong, Mandang, Chibegre, Jallaigre, Sibbari, Bul-Awe and Rongru Asim are the worst-affected where more than 1000 families have lost their food crops.

Marak urged the CM to direct concerned departments to assess the value of crop damaged and provide compensation accordingly.
