MDC seeks relief for flood victims

TURA: Former Deputy Chief Executive Member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) and Silkigre MDC Augustine R Marak has urged Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to direct the district administration to provide relief to flood-affected families in South Garo Hills.
According to Marak, villages like Karukhol, Rewak, Balkal, Gokagre, Nengkong, Mandang, Chibegre, Jallaigre, Sibbari, Bul-Awe and Rongru Asim are the worst affected where more than 1,000 families have lost their food crops.
Marak urged Sangma to direct departments concerned to assess the damage to crops and provide compensation accordingly.
