SHILLONG: Congress MP Vincent Pala on Saturday extended support to Narendra Modi’s ‘New India’ vision and said scientists in India are committed to doubling farmers’ income in the stipulated time period.
Pala was addressing a gathering at ICAR Umiam after administering pledge to farmers on ‘Sankalp Se Siddhi’ to double their income by 2022.
“Sankalp Se Siddhi, which commemorates 75 years of the Quit India Movement and the movement when the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation to take a pledge to create a New India that is strong, prosperous and all-encompassing should be made ‘as strong as the Quit India Movement’,” said the Shillong MP.
As part of the observation high-yielding variety of chickens were distributed.
ICAR North East Director SV Ngachan urged farmers in Meghalaya and other parts of the region to adopt integrated methods which are scientifically proven and are better than the traditional methods.
