TURA: The presence of two liquor shops in the vicinity of Ghaguapara-Chamaguri village of Tikrikilla has been linked to rising cases of crime in the area.
One of the shops is allegedly run by the Gaonbura Rajesh M Sangma, who has reportedly even given his no-objection to another shop run by a person named Devendar Jain.
“Without taking the consent of villagers the headman gave permission for the opening of the two wine stores, one of which belongs to him,” villagers said.
They further allege that there is fear because the headman has allegedly warned that he would not give his signature on any official paper of the villagers. There are two schools in the vicinity — Kristu Jyothi School and the Don Bosco HS School. The Ghaguapara Baptist Church and Tikrikilla Catholic Church are also in the area.
