SHILLONG: Over 70 members of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Nongstoin circle have started their 95 km journey from Nongstoin to Shillong on foot on Tuesday morning to protest the alleged adamant attitude of the government in not bringing about developmental works in Nongstoin.

Another reason cited by the general secretary, Robert Kharjahrin in a press statement is that the protest rally is a demonstration to condemn the state government for not implementing the 14-point demands of the organisation which includes introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP), residential permit, work permit, Prohibition and detection of Benami transaction, settlement of border dispute etc.
