SHILLONG: Cracks have appeared on the wall of the Umiam bridge situated at Biersiej village in Ri Bhoi, posing a threat to commuters. The HYC Ri Bhoi, which had noticed the cracks “that run till Tyrso village”, has flayed the contractor for the “reckless work”.
HYC members said they inspected the bridge, which was built recently, and found that sand was used for construction.
The organisation has demanded that the contractor immediately start repair work to avert accidents.
