SHILLONG: BJP has alleged partiality in the disbursement of relief materials in Garo Hills.
In a letter addressed to the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi, president of BJP’s Kisan Morcha, K. C. Boro, while appreciating the prompt action by the DC, said that he had been receiving numerous complaints from the public that the relief committees were telling people that the relief was meant only for Congress men and not for BJP.
“They say that except rice, dal and other items, people from BJP would not get other relief materials like – blankets, buckets, crop damage compensation and others”, Boro said.
As per information, the
relief committee of Marok under Selsella Assembly constituency, West Garo Hills is refusing to give even rice and dal to those whom they identified as BJP members, Boro said.
“This is really unfortunate and undesirable. This has happened because of the fact that unlike previous years, specific instruction has been given by the officials entrusted for the job in the field that each relief committee has to be recommended by the Local MLAs”, Boro said.
The BJP leader urged the DC to probe the matter.
