NONGSTOIN: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in West Khasi Hills organised a programme on ‘Celebration of Sankalp Se Siddhi’ or ‘Determination to Attainment’ as part of the Centre’s New India Movement 2017-2022, at Tirot Sing Memorial Hall at Pyndengumiong Mairang on Saturday.
Shillong MP Vincent Pala, who had recently praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the ‘New India’ mission, was the chief guest. It was envisaged that farmers’ income would double by 2022 under the mission. Pala emphasised on the need to equip farmers with good quality seeds, organic fertilisers and irrigation facilities to increase their income.
He also urged upon the farmers to insure their crops under the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme, which was launched last year.
Other guests were farmers and from the district administration and KVK.
Everyone present took the pledge, administered by Pala, to build a new and better India by 2022.
