SHILLONG: The Ri Bhoi Student Union (RBSU) and the Ri-Bhoi Youth Development and Social Organisation (RBYDSO) have demanded removal of the deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police in the district.
RBSU President EJ Nongpluh accused Deputy Commissioner CP Gotmare and SP R. Singh of being “a rubber stamp for politicians”.
He went on to allege that the DC and the SP are not cooperating with people. “The SP often transfers officers from one police station to the other,” Nongpluh said. “He (the SP) does not look into the well-being of police personnel and disturbs the public by accusing innocent residents of bringing about anti-social activities,” he added.
The organisation has demanded appointment of a tribal deputy commissioner. The two organisations also extended their support to the rally demanding removal of the duo on August 17 this year.
