SHILLONG: United Democratic Party (UDP) ticket aspirant Air Marshall Diengngan has asserted that most of the developmental works in Ranikor constituency had been carried out by late UDP leader PK Raswai.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, he said that Raswai was instrumental in establishment of CHCs, Block and other developmental offices at Ranikor constituency.
Indicating that people in Ranikor are inclined towards bringing about a change in the constituency by ousting sitting MLA Martin Danggo, he said, “UDP will be victorious in Ranikor.”
When pointed out about what would be his next move if another ticket aspirant, Pius Marwein, gets the party ticket, Diengngan said, “I will take my supporters into confidence before taking any decision.”
Another party member, Lastborn Pariong, said, “On that part, we leave it to the wisdom of the party.”
Commenting on the victory of Danggo in the last election, Diengngan said, “He (Danggo) was able to have an easy win as there were too many candidates in the fray last time.”
Diengngan said UDP emerged second in Ranikor constituency and in the upcoming 2018 Assembly elections, the constituency would not disappoint the leaders of UDP.
Diengngan added that he and his supporters would hold party meeting on September 16 at Ranikor.
