Sushma leaves for Colombo

New Delhi:  External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today left for Colombo to participate in the 2nd Indian Ocean Conference. “A visit to further peace, progress & prosperity in the region. EAM @SushmaSwaraj departs for Colombo to attend Indian Ocean Conference 2017,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted. The two-day conference is being jointly organised by the India Foundation, the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Singapore and the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS), Colombo. The EAM will be addressing the inaugural session. The theme of this year’s conference is “Peace, Progress and Prosperity” and will involve participants from more than 35 countries. The first edition of the Indian Ocean Conference was held in Singapore in September 2016. During the visit, the EAM will be calling on President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka. She will also have a separate meeting with the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister. (UNI)
