SHILLONG: Lack of sufficient evidence against senior bureaucrat HM Shangpliang is the hurdle the government is facing to proceed with the matter related to his official participation in a political party meeting in July.
Chief Secretary Y. Tsering said on Friday that there is not much evidence before the government to proceed with the issue.
“It is not that we are closing the probe, if anyone can provide more evidence, we can still carry out the inquiry,” Tsering said.
He also said that the official has already applied for VRS which is under examination of the government.
After the state government had issued showcause notice to Shangpliang based on a video clip of the official seen in a political meeting, the latter denied ever using his official position to further any political clause.
Pressure groups TUR and CSWO had demanded action against the official.
