SHILLONG: After carrying out select revamping of the party at the block levels, MPCC president DD Lapang will leave for Delhi on Monday to apprise the High Command of the party’s preparedness for the Assembly polls.
A party source said on Sunday that Lapang will hold meetings with the AICC leaders and convey to them that the election process for Meghalaya started with the supply of application forms from August 31 till September 15.
The purpose of early distribution of application forms was to see how many rebel Congress MLAs do not apply for party tickets as the party wants to prepare other potential candidates in their place.
The source added that Lapang is expected to brief the party’s central leadership about Congress legislators who are set to leave the party.
The party was anticipating the likely exit of some Congress legislators and so the party dissolved Block Committees in Mawkyrwat, Pynursla, Nartiang and Umroi represented by Rowell Lyngdoh, Prestone Tynsong, Sniawbhalang Dhar and Ngaitlang Dhar, respectively.
