Tantia worker fatally knocked down

SHILLONG: A hydro operator of Tantia Construction Company was killed at Mawphlang on Saturday evening after he was knocked down by a vehicle of an official of soil and water conservation department.
One Bolero (ML01-5370) driven by Ostarly Thomas Lyngwa, the Divisional Soil & Water Conservation Officer-Nongpoh, knocked down Subash Singh at Mawphlang MB road, police said.
The victim, who was the worker of Tantia Construction Company died on the spot.
His body which was kept at Mawphlang PHC will be sent to civil hospital for postmortem.
Lyngwa, who was driving the vehicle surrendered and was sent to PHC for medical examination.
Police said that a case will be taken up under Mawngap police station against the driver.
