SHILLONG: After Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh, it was the turn of Information Technology Minister and senior Congress leader Ampareen Lyngdoh to support Mukul Sangma as the next chief minister.
Speaking to media persons here on the sidelines of a private programme, Lyngdoh said she has not seen anyone delivering a stable government before Sangma.
“With stability comes decision-making and step by step decisions were taken in the last seven years. I don’t need to like or dislike the chief minister and he does not have to be my buddy but I look at him as my leader and he is a good chief minister,” the minister said.
On the recent dissolution of the Congress’s block committees, Lyngdoh said it was time for disciplining people. “Discipline is necessary… It is okay for Narendra Modi to discipline his ministers and telling them not to even attend cultural programmes and it is not okay for our party president or chief minister to discipline a couple of men. Get real.”
However, she was quick to add that she was unaware of the reasons behind such move.
Meanwhile, Lyngdoh also hailed the decision of BJP at the Centre to give the important portfolio of Defence Ministry to Nirmala Sitharaman saying she is a capable woman who supported her party in the line of the fire all through the pre-election process.
Asserting that women are capable policymakers and legislators, the state minister said, “Though she will face many hurdles but I hope BJP will continue to recognise women of honour and women of quality.”
