SHILLONG: The Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association has resolved to support the All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisations by boycotting Teachers’ Day celebrations and wearing black badges on September 5.
MCTA general secretary A Basaiawmoit said they would boycott the celebrations to protest against the Centre’s inordinate delay in publishing and implementing the Seventh UGC Pay Review Committee and other issues regarding the Seventh Pay review commission.
MCTA took the decision in its executive meeting as per the resolutions adopted at the AIFUCTO national executive committee meeting in New Delhi where it was decided that the “Jail Bharo or Court Arrest Programme” will be held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on September 5.
