59 arrested in Excise raids in WGH

TURA: A total of 59 persons were arrested and booked under Section 53 (1) (a) of the Meghalaya Excise Act during separate raids conducted all over West Garo Hills district by the Excise Department within the months of July and August.

The West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner (Excise) informed that the raids resulted in the seizure of approximately 113.435 litres of IMFL, 3.800 litres of Beer and 39.405 litres of ID liquor.

A total of 66 cases were disposed of and a fine amounting to Rs 41,120/- realized, the DC added.
