Meghalaya notifies rules for Anand Marriages Registration Act

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Government has notified the rules for the  state Anand Marriages Registration Rules, 2016.

This was revealed after Under Secretary,   Registration, B Syiemlieh wrote a letter to the Manjinder Singh Sirsa, an MLA from  Delhi Legislative Assembly.

With the rules getting notified , Meghalaya has become the fourth state of the country to implement the Anand Marriage Act.

Meanwhile, the Shillong City Gurudwara Committee, Bara Bazar, Shillong representing the Sikh community of Meghalaya has expressed its gratitude to the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for implementing the  Act.

Earlier, Manjinder Singh  had taken up the issue of implementation of the Act with the Meghalaya Government.
