Over 50 workers of NPP, Cong join UDP in East Garo Hills

SHILLONG: More than 50 members of Nationalist People’s Party (NPP) and Congress joined the United Democratic Party (UDP) on Saturday at Dobu, East Garo Hills under 41- Songsak constituency.

“I am happy to see the mass move and warmly welcome all members to the party. I hope to more (NPP party workers) will join in the future. I hope we’ll win 2018 election against present MLA Nihim Shira and UDP Songsak is ready to face any kind of challenges,” Arun Marak, Joint Secretary, CEC, UDP said.

Marak, who is the UDP candidate from Songsak said that the UDP general meeting of Dobu areas held at Dobu playground witnessed workers from NPP and Congress shifting allegiance to the UDP.

He claimed that they (NPP men) were not satisfied with the functioning of their respective leaders.

Marak stated that they had elected Subin Sangma as the President and John Marak as a General Secretary and others.
