SHILLONG: NPP MLA James Sangma on Monday said SS Net Com, owned by his brother and Tura MP Conrad Sangma, rented out its premises to the fake call centre firms after verifying all documents.
“After all the documents (NOC from headman and certificate from the additional SP) were verified and found to be true, SS Net Com rented out its premises to those firms,” Sangma said.
Stating that SS Net Com is cooperating with investigators, Sangma said Meghalaya police themselves certified that these people have necessary credentials.
“How much can we go into the depth of who are these persons and where did they come from when all verifications were done,” he added.
Terming the incident as unfortunate, Sangma hoped that all the guilty will be brought to book.
The call centre racket, which was duping American citizens, was busted last month. Police have arrested 11 persons in this connection.
The East Khasi Hills SP, Davis N Marak, had said the police may question Conrad Sangma after joining the dots in the case.
To this, the NPP MLA said it was not right to bring out somebody’s name, especially of a public figure, when the investigation was on.
