NPP team from WKH meets Ratika

NONGSTOIN: A delegation of the NPP youth wing of West Khasi Hills met Ratika Yumnam, the president of the national youth wing of NPP at the party office here on Tuesday and discussed various issues faced by the people of West Khasi Hills district.
The NPP youth wing led by its president Thymmaibor S.Shangrit and secretary Handerjohn Kharbani also met NPP national president Conrad K. Sangma.
The leaders of the party expressed concern at the problems faced by the students owing to late sanction of scholarships by the government, lack access to educational loan and dearth of sports facilities and academies for youths in the district.
According to the youth wing, the government had not done enough to promote tourism in West Khasi Hills despite the district having a variety of tourist spots. The delegation from the district said development of tourism could lead to creation of employment and boost the economy.
The youth wing leaders also pointed out that more centres of education was needed as the population in the district was growing and people could not afford education outside the state. They also said that the people living in the fringes of the states and border areas were facing problems.
Ratika assured the delegation that she would present their issues before the incumbent government and said that the latter needed to address them soon.
